The New, Improved Character Survey of Doom

Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Tall and lanky. He's 6'4" which means he spends a lot of time looking over people and at only 156lbs there's not a lot too that height. Just skin, bones and a bit of muscles.

2. How old is he?
27-28ish.
Old enough to know better, young enough not to care.

3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Boy's a sloucher.
At this rate by the time he hits old man-dom his silloutte will look like a shppard's crook.

4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
From just looking at him, it's hard to tell just how out of shape he is. He's not lean, he's gaunt, with very little muscle mass between his skin and bones. It's a mystery how he hasn't ended up with a broken arm or leg yet from some of the dumb shit he's done.
The closest he's come is a broken nose and a few black eyes.

Rip's eyesight is incredibly poor. He cannot see without glasses or contacts at all.
He is the Velma Dinkley of Poffin Town.

Bug bites make him swell up with hives.

Like many Hypno/Drowzee, Rip suffers from Insomnia. He can go days and days without sleeping and gets pretty.. sketchy the longer he does.
When he does fall asleep he crashes and burns. It doesn't matter where he is or what he's doing, the boy is out like a light.
He no longer keeps a credit/debit card on hand because of this.

5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Deceptively quick footed and silent. He often comes out of nowhere and sneaks up on people, even when they expect him to be there.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Moderately attractive. He's no Adonis, not with all that body hair and droopy face, but he's not undesirable either and he knows it.

7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
There are some olive undertones to his skin, but only just enough to keep him from being a deathly shade of white.
He has a few pock-marks near his hairline from when he had chickenpox as a kid.

8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
It's thin and wispy, soft and fluffy, like cotton candy, a dandelion puff or a cloud.

9. What color are his eyes?
He had rather small cornea so it can be hard to tell but his eyes are brown.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
His nose is.. pretty big. It's easily his most note-worthy feature since it takes up a huge chunk of his face.
He has a strong chin and prominent Adam's Apple as well.

11. What are his chief tension centers?
Neck, shoulders and upper back.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?

13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?

14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?

15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxers.
Usually solid colours but he has one or two with hearts or stripes on them.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?

2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?

7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?

Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Book-smart. If he had been interested in it enough he could have been valedictorian of his graduating class but he blew it off in favor of having fun.

2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?

3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?

4. What kind of education has the character had?
High school graduate and currently in his 4th year of study for a doctorate.
He's currently on a sabbatical from schooling to find himself and what he wants to do with life.

5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?

6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?

7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?

8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?

9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?

10. Which is his default: fight or flight?

11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?

12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?

13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?

14. What does he fear?

15. What are his hopes or aspirations?

16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.

2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
A younger half-brother and sister.
Bradly is a rather dumb but attractive young man who's claim to fame and a college scholarship is the fact that he can kick a ball really hard. He was born only a year or two after his dad remarried, so the age difference isn't too bad.

His half-sister on the other hand, is so much younger then him, that people have assumed they're father and daughter on a few occasions.

3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
Not especially. He has a Lucario cousin on his mom's side who teaches 'english' in Johto but they haven't talked to each other in months, they played with each other a lot prior to evolving and whenever Quinn wasn't around.

4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Quinn and by extension his entire family.

5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?

6. Does he have other close friends?

7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?

8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Friends. He'd never say as much but if you've been around him long enough you know he couldn't care about his family in the slightest.

9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single. He's been around the block a few times and was even engaged to his last girlfriend, but due to his inability to commit and a tendency to pussy-foot around the issue, lead to the relationship folding.

10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Naw. Rip tends to hold women up on pedestals. He'd actually look down on any woman who'd be okay with cheating, either the one doing it or as the one being cheated on.

11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?

12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?

13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No kids, at least not yet. He does want to settle down and have a family eventually but not now.
His inability to commit is what drove a wedge between him and his last ex-girlfriend.

14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Unless you count every ex-girlfriend he's ever had... no. He's a fairly likable guy if you get passed the fact that he's kinda creepy looking.

15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
1-2. He's more or less straight even thought his family is convince that he and Quinn are a couple that hide under the pretense of Rip being unlucky in love and Quinn being busy with his career.
The fangirl part of me likes to think they have unironically kissed each other a few times for no other reason then they can.

16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Sometimes Rip masturbates to the really weird/kinky nightmares and dreams he happens upon at night.
Of course he enjoys sex but considering his track record, he's just as happy with jerking off right now.

17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
Rip, much like his father actually, is an ass man. Wide hips, a firm ass and round thighs really drive him wild.

For turn-offs, I'd say tall and/or overweight women.

He's pretty vanilla in terms of kinks, preferring missionary with some slight bdsm.

Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
Pisces.
He's middle of the road as far as his sign goes. He's Intuitive and Imaginative, but that's where the possitive traits end.
For negative traists, Rip is just as idealistic, secretive, vague and prone to running away from his problems as you'd expect from the fishy sign.

Ox.
The only trait Rip shares with the Ox is that, and I quote:

And since an Ox is intelligent and good at his hands, he can be a good surgeon as well.

He's not artistic, nor strong willed, and he regrets more of his dessicions then not.

2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
Non-religious, possibly atheist.
It doesn't really factor into his life a lot.

3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Knows of and has taken the Hippocratic Oath. He'd like to see a happy and healthy future for poke-kind but beyond 'don't be a dick you ass' he doesn't have any other morals or beliefs.

4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Fairly indifferent. He doesn't shove his ideology on others but will push back if you shove yours on him.

5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He totally hates his step-mom for no other reason then 'YOU'RE NOT MY MOOOOOM WAAH' and is pretty estranged from his younger brother and sister because of it.
He is seriously closer to Quinn's family then he is his own.

Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Eheh. His family is more then well off, with his father being a locally-famous plastic surgeon and his step-mother being one of those Avon or if this was the 90's, Tupperware ladies.
It's only recently that Rip has been hurting, because his dad shut off his funds and now he has to pay his own way (for the most part) until he gets his act together.

2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Rip spent all of his childhood and a good chunk of his teenage years as an oddball. You know the kid, the one with a dorky haircut and thick-rimmed glasses who would draw elaborate maps with traps and spikes and a little stick person with the teacher or some other student's name written in uneven caps and pointing to said stick person.

He spent a lot of time playing on his own under the jungle gym before he met up with Quinn.

There was also this nasty goth phase he went through the first year of high school which made his standing dip before he grew out of it and just learned to be himself.

3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
In a nice two bedroom apartment with Quinn. It's exactly like you'd expect the bachelor pad of two grown man children to look like; relatively clean but occasionally you'll walk in to dirty underwear on the arm of the couch and unwashed dishes left in the sink for days.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Movies, books, the internet, and sometimes video games. He likes action and adventure games, and was really fond of games like Kings Quest and Ultima.

5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Rip's job is supermarket cashier/bag boy, the kind of job you get when you're 15 and your parents want you to get a job because they're tired of supporting your lazy ass.
He's fine with it as it's just something to fill the time with until he inevitably goes back to school.

6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? Magic tricks.
I think all little kids love the idea of being able to do something no one else can and the idea of mystifying your friends by pulling a coin out of their ear was one that young Ripley latched onto, especially after his mother died.
Now he mostly uses it to pick up ladies.

7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Living with Quinn for years has resulted in a surprisingly healthy diet peppered with the occasional late night pan-asian food binges that come with being a medical student and having a horrible sleep scheduled.

He can also sustain himself on dreams, specifically nightmares, but given how carefree Quinn is and what a slacker he can be, it's often easier for him to just eat real food to tide him over instead of finding someone's fears to mooch off of.

As is pretty common for the 20-somethings of the world, Rip goes out drinking fairly often, at least once a month during Quinn's off-season, more often if there's a family event (like a birthday) or holiday involved.
He is a poor decision maker when drunk. It leads to things like waking up naked in a strange town or with a shopping cart turned over in your room with DELOREAN spray painted on the side.
